We saw lots of people and many animals. Abby really enjoyed it this year, she was able to actually see the animals. Last year she was just too little and couldn’t see where we were looking.
We enjoyed seeing a bunch of ducks at the fountain, and they came right up to us, Abby really liked that. It was very hot so we didn’t stay too long, but in that time we saw monkeys, seals, penguins and many other animals too. It is so nice getting together with Tiffany, not only because we are friends but she is a mother of young ones like me. Right now most of my friends children are teens or older. Plus it’s so great seeing Abby and Gabby together. There is a bond between them, which is unspoken and so wonderful. Even though Abby doesn’t understand that Gabby is her family, and we don’t see them nearly enough, it’s almost like inside of them, they know.
That evening Beka and Dustin came over and we had a nice visit with them. Abby loves rough housing with her sisters and playing with them. They also love time with Abby and being around here.
All we do, is to love and know every day the whys and the reasons. Sometimes you get a nudge to remember this is why we are living this life. Tiffany just told me of a little girl, only 17 months old, who came into the hospital and her eyes were black. You couldn’t even tell if her eyes were brown, hazel or blue. This poor creature has been broken and hurt, her parents have not protected her. When I hear stories of this heart break and pain, I know our choice to adopt Abby and to foster care another are right. What is so sad that everyday all over the world, children are being abused and hurt, by family, maybe even their own parents. Neglected and dirty, hungry and so much worse, and we don’t hear half of these stories. We hear of children being killed but not of this abuse in every city, all over. Children going into foster home, some good, some not so good. I thank God everyday, that the agency called Tiffany and she took in our little Abby.
There are days that Abby is being a typical little stinker, an almost two year old and she does a naughty thing and I think what would have happened to her, just for that one action. Would she have been beaten, bruised or hurt? Yes, there is sacrifice, but truly it is so worth it. More than I could even say. Recently, we bumped into someone from our old church, and they asked if we are happy with her. I’m not upset with that person, obviously, they don’t understand that she is ours. Just like she came from my own body. Not like adopting a pet, where you can have it re-adopted if it doesn’t work out. She is ours.
